February 15 Meeting Minutes

The meeting was called to order at 6:10 PM with 13 members present.

  • The minutes of the last meeting were reviewed and, on a motion by Pat O, approved.

  • The cash report was reviewed and, on a motion by Larry B, approved.

  • Maps- Brian and Kelly Carleton have made progress GPSing the trails.

  • Grant in Aid- We need to apply for a grant to purchase a UTV and properly sized drag to replace the Skandic; Possibly a RTP grant so as to not jeopardize the use of the grant in aid for a future Tucker replacement or a Jeep to replace the Tracker.

  • 3 drags were looked at and, on a motion by Pat O, it was approved to spend up to $9,000.00 on a unit from JB in Maine and add this to the Tucker loan if a grant does not materialize.

  • Fundraising

    • St. Patty’s Day Raffle- Ticket sales are continuing. Denise plans to push media advertising. Trail sponsorship- This program did well. There are 6 signs up on trails.

    • Winter Carnival- February 20. Volunteers will be needed to man the fire pit and hand out s’mores and cocoa. We can only do this if the ice allows us to be on the lake. The town will not permit fires in the parking lot. We will have a booth in the parking lot if the ice is not usable. We have a few items to raffle.

  • Groomers

    • Tucker- Parts are still being searched for to complete the repair of the exhaust issue.

    • Tracker- Needs to be replaced. It is OK if the gas tank is only filled half way.

    • Skandic- The sale of the totaled Skandic for $500.00, on a motion by Mark S, was approved. We have received the settlement from the insurance company.

  • Trails

    • We need to do a better job at signing the trails. Kiosks at major intersections was discussed. They will probably be installed over the summer.

    • Trail E- Contact was made with someone from the West Alton Marina to discuss possible future reopening of the trail through their property. They are still dredging and are concerned that someone will try to access the lake there.

    • Trail M- The possibility of giving this trail to Powder Mill was discussed. We do not have the ability to access it for grooming. This option was tabled until we can look into possibilities over the summer.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:00 P.M.
